This perky peace lily will reach about table height when full-grown, an ideal size for big indoor display and planting outside in tropical gardens. The dark glossy leaves are slender and tapering, the slender white pointed flowers stand upright to attention, a very handsome variety overall. Peace lilies will let you know they need watering because their leaves droop dramatically - try not to let them get this dehydrated though!
Spathiphyllum '7th Heaven' - peace lilyDESCRIPTION: Medium sized peace lily with dark slender foliage and white upright flowers tapering to a point, which stand above the leaves. Also known as 'peace lily' this clumping plant is native to South America and thrives in humid shady climates.
USE IN: Perfect indoor plant for adding a cool tropical vibe. Suited to under planting outdoors in tropical climates. Renowned for its air-cleaning properties.
PLANTING: Plant in sheltered position, avoid direct sunlight. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Protect from frost and provide plenty of water during dry periods.
CARE: Water only when soil begins to dry, gently push your finger into the soil to test for moisture. Spathiphyllum thrive in humid conditions. Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and a liquid based fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the warmer months, take care to dilute your solution to half the recommended dose to avoid burn. For indoor plants - wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth if you notice them collecting dust and spritz with a hand sprayer, this will refresh the foliage to it's usual glossy finish. Re-pot container plants at the beginning of spring.
