Syzygium cryptophlebium - purple satinash, plum satinash

APPEARANCE: Very tall bushy native lillypilly tree with large leaves, bright pink and weeping when new, dark green when mature; small fluffy off-white flowers, and dark purple edible fruit in autumn.
USE IN: Hedging, screening, feature planting, wildlife gardens, autumn colour.
LOCATION: Prefers sheltered areas out of all-day hot sun and heavy winds. It grows as a somewhat open leggy plant in rainforest understorey but in brighter garden situations and with regular watering and pruning it is a dense bushy plant with abundant flowers..
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prune hedges regularly to encourage bushiness and improve the shape. It should come through a light overnight frost but protect it from extended periods of colder weather. Feed it with all-purpose fertiliser to encourage health and flowering. Appreciates supplementary water in dry spells as it's a rainforest species.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: Up to 10m H in domestic gardens.
YOUR PLANTS: These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide
