Syzygium australe 'Select' - lilly pilly
APPEARANCE : Native evergreen. Selected form that is compact with tightly growing foliage with bronze new growth. White flowers, deep pink-red big berries. Great resistance to psyllids.Backyard Bliss is a seedling from Select parents - Backyard Bliss is PBR protected so you will pay a breeder royalty fee on the plants; Select is not. Select is bushier all over, and has slightly larger darker leaves. You can see a comparison at the end of the image gallery
ORIGIN : Native to the east coast of QLD and NSW
USE FOR : Excellent for hedging, shaping, screening
CLIMATE : Tough and will tolerate light frosts.
PLANTING : Tolerates most positions and conditions but would benefit with mulching and fertilising at the time of planting in a well drained soil. Ideal in full sun.
CARE : Mulch and keep watered until established.
MATURE HEIGHT AND WIDTH : 3 - 5m H but normally clipped to preferred height x 1.5 - 2m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
