Frost Hardy Plants

Frost-tolerant plants will survive a day or two of frost and temperatures down to -5C. They might look a bit sad afterwards but they'll grow ok once it gets warmer. Frost-hardy plants will survive several days of frost and snow, and temperatures down to -10C, and they'll come out looking fine. If you live in Canberra, inland Victoria / New South Wales, or at altitude, try frost hardy plants like these. Many spring bulbs are very frost hardy too; several need cold in order to flower.

IMPORTANT : New tubestock plants should be protected from frost, until they have developed a woody stem, or are much larger in size. Good drainage will help plants survive cold; don't let roots sit in wet soil.
