BRAND NEW variety of the very popular sweet viburnum hedging: the leaves are more slender, more glossy, and darker in colour - almost chocolate - especially in new growth. It's more compact too. Coppertop will give Photinia Red Robin a run for its money!
The breeders say it is heat and drought tolerant, and cold-hardy, once established; so test that out for yourself and let us know.

Viburnum odoratissimum 'Coppertop' PBR - sweet viburnum
APPEARANCE : New variety of this popular evergreen shrub with rich green semi-glossy slender foliage, deep green when young, becoming heavily shaded deep bronze. New growth is rich red-brown. Sweet viburnum is fast-growing and bushy with clusters of small white scented flowers.USE FOR: Ideal for screening, hedges, and feature planting. Establishes quickly, fast-growing.
PLANTING : Sun to part shade. Supposedly cold hardy to -10C , unlike the species form which is more tender; test this out in your garden.
CARE : Mulch, water well and fertilise in spring with a slow release fertiliser. Prune twice yearly to promote new growth and encourage compact growth habit.
