What is Grownet?

tubestock in grownet

At Australian Plants Online's nursery we grow and sell what are known in the trade as tubestock plants.

These are small plants with healthy root systems ready for planting out.. They are the plant size used by professional landscapers, horticulturalists and revegetation gardeners.

Sometimes we ship our tubestock plants with their roots encased in a mesh netting wrap, which holds the roots and soil together safely.

This is called a Grownet.

Using this Grownet wrap helps us cut down on the use of plastic  in the nursery.

Using this wrap also helps speed up the production process, which means we can get the plants growing roots and ready to send out to you much faster.

What do I do with it?

We ship your plants potted up inside a plastic pot to send to you, to protect the roots in transit; and hold the plants until you are ready to plant them.

You can recycle these pots in your domestic recycling bins.

The mesh wrap is biodegradable, and will break down in the soil over time, turning into carbon dioxide and water.

The speed of biodegrading depends on temperature, humidity, and soil pH levels; warmer and wetter soils mean faster breakdown.

Meanwhile the plant's roots can grow through the mesh as normal, unimpeded.

Simply plant your tubestock, netting and all.
