You can see why these plants are called rose-painted calatheas - each leaf looks like a vibrant canvas. Illustris has so much colour in simple shades, from the deep green edge to lime brushstrokes, the red central stem and bright white feathered highlights.
Calathea roseopicta 'Illustris' - rose-painted calathea, peacock plant
APPEARANCE : Tropical foliage plant with large broad highly-patterned leaves in dark and bright green with white highlights and red central ribs. Leaves unfurl from a central growing point; mature leaves fold up at night.USES: Indoor plant, tropical accent planting.
PLANTING: Plant in a shady spot with indirect sunlight. Prefers moisture-retaining soil or a good quality potting mix. Needs temperatures over 15C and enjoys humidity.
CARE: Water regularly during the first 12 weeks and regularly once established. Mist regularly if air humidity is low, and wipe the leaves gently with a damp cloth to free them of dust. Apply a nitrogen rich slow release fertiliser every three months for vibrant healthy foliage.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 50 - 90cm H.
