Maranta leuconeura - prayer plant

DESCRIPTION: Leafy tropical foliage plant with patterned bright green leaves spotted with dark green and feathered with purple-pink. Plants fold their leaves up at night as if in prayer, which shows the purple-pink undersides to advantage.
USES: Ideal container plant for a shaded patio, accent planting in tropical gardens, or indoors. Suited to underplanting. 
PLANTING: Plant in a shady spot with indirect sunlight. Prefers moisture-retaining soil or a good quality potting mix. Enjoys humid air.
CARE: Water regularly during the first 12 weeks and regularly once established. Mist regularly if air humidity is low. Apply a slow release fertiliser yearly and liquid feed every three months for vibrant healthy foliage. Remove the old leaves for a quick tidy up.
