Bolusanthus speciosus - tree wisteria
APPEARANCE : Slow-growing South African tree that forms a broad-headed, multistemmed silhouette. Covered with hanging 'tails' of scented purple-lilac pea flowers in spring, which trees produce from a very young age. Foliage is long, slender, and glossy; , deciduous for a short period of time during early spring. Gently weeping branches, textured bark.
USE FOR :  Feature tree, street plantings, in a large pot, winter colour as can flower from August onwards. Non-invasive roots. Excellent timber tree for ornamental wood and for termite-resistant posts.
PLANTING: Plant in a full sun to part shade position with light, well-draining soil. Drought tolerant, should come through a light overnight frost once mature. Will grow in most frost-free regions of Australia. Regular water and a sheltered spot will result in more flowers than drought conditions and a windy site.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. This tree usually grows multi-stemmed so if you want a single trunk, carefully prune and train it to create this.
HEIGHT & WIDTH:  4-10 m H x 3 - 6m W slowly.
YOUR PLANTS: These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80 mm x 42 mm wide. You can see an example in the image gallery.
