We've been hanging out for pencil pines so we're rapt to add this to the range - the unmistakable very tall, very slim,very stylish Italian pencil pine. Can you imagine a row of these lining the sides of your driveway at home?

It's a great conifer tree for small gardens too, as the roots go down deep but don't spread, and it's so slender it tucks into the smallest of spaces.

Cupressus sempervirens glaucapencil pine, Italian cypress

APPEARANCE: Very tall, slender dark green conifer native to the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Balkans. Very longlived. The botanic name means "cypress evergreen blue".
USES:  Feature planting. Lining a driveway. Small spaces and large pots. Mediterranean style gardens. May be resistant to fire. Beautiful timber.
PLANTING: Tolerates most soil types and planting conditions including seaside and alkaline soil. Plant in full sun, grows best in a free draining soil rich in organic matter. Its native climate is hot dry summers and cool wet winters, so it can tolerate periods of drought providing it gets enough water in the winter.
CARE: Mulch and water well during dry periods. Requires no maintenance to keep compact and conical.
