Alocasia sanderiana 'Black Velvet' - velvet alocasia

DESCRIPTION: Exotic foliage plant with large soft heart-shaped leaves. The leaves are dark almost-black with contrasting white veins. Neat compact size ideal for indoor display.
USES: Popular houseplant ideal in a brightly coloured pot for colour balance. Suited to underplanting in tropical gardens.
PLANTING: Plant in a shaded location or semi-shade with filtered light. Alocasia plants thrive in free draining soil, check that pots have good drainage.
CARE: Water regularly during the first 12 weeks or until the plant is established. Apply liquid fertiliser at half rate every 4 weeks for best results. Remove the old leaves for a quick tidy up. Regular light watering and a daily spritz with water for indoor plants will keep them looking lush. Foliage may die back during the cooler months when plants become dormant. Avoid feeding and heavy watering again until plants develop new leaves. Repot during spring only if plants become rootbound, this is the ideal time to remove and repot any young shoots which have sprouted. Protect from frost.

YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tube-stock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The average size of your plants will be 15 -25 cm including the pot height of 80mm high and 42 mm wide. Your plants may be shipped as "plugs" (see photo), ready to plant up or pot on.
