Quick Overview

Very attractive dark glossy evergreen foliage makes an appealing shrub year round, native to Mozambique. In warmer months - or year-round further north - the plant is scattered with large white starry flowers at the end of each branch. Scented too! Good for pots and tubs, dry borders, rockeries. Little maintenance needed, very hardy.
The small red fruits produced are edible, check out this tasty recipe for relish serve as an accompaniment with soft cheese.

Avoid picking fruit that may have been sprayed.

Carissa 'Desert Star'

DESCRIPTION: Attractive and neat in habit with dense thick foliage with small thorns so not for the kiddies. Large white, sweetly scented, star-shaped flowers nestled on top of this bright green small shrub.
USE IN: Perfect bordering plant and is also suited to rockeries as it is very hardy.  Suitable for pots. Drought tolerant.
LOCATION:  Plrefers a full sun position in free draining soil rich in organic matter.  A potting mix rich with peat moss or humus is ideal.
CARE: Mulch and water well until the plant is established. Requires little maintenance.  Fertilise with a slow release fertiliser yearly.

HEIGHT & WIDTH: 1-2m H x 1-2m W.

PLEASE NOTE: These are tube-stock plants, with the benefit of being a young plant they will establish quickly in your garden. The average size of your plants will be 15 -25 cm in height with a pot size of 42 mm wide and 80 mm high.
