A green dinosaur, this native goes back 300 million years to the Gondwana era. Small elegant cone-shaped native pine trees with fine ferny bright green foliage, similar to Callitris. Grows in open gaps in tropical rainforest canopy, even at altitude; looks very fine as a feature plant in gardens.

Gymnostoma australianum - Daintree pine
DESCRIPTION: Rare and beautifully shaped native pine that dates back to the Gondwana period.
USES: Traditional Aussie native Christmas tree.  Ideal planted as a formal row or as a stately specimen on its own. Suited to container planting. Very versatile.
PLANTING: Mulch and water well until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Fertilise with native fertiliser early spring and at planting.
CARE: Plant in a sunny to partly shaded position in the garden. Tolerates frost and dry conditions once established. Protect from strong winds.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 3-6m H x 2-3m W.
PLEASE NOTE: These are tube-stock plants, with the benefit of being a young plant they will establish quickly in your garden. The average size of your plants will be 15 -25 cm in height including the pot height of 80 mm x 42 mm wide.
