Blueberry Powder Blue - Vaccinium ashei
APPEARANCE : Tough hardy 'rabbiteye' blueberry with a later fruiting season. Flowers spring to early summer followed by clusters of powder blue berries in time for Christmas. Deciduous in cool climates with red autumn colour.USE FOR : Plant as a feature and enjoy the juicy berries through summer. Eat fresh from the bush or add to a favourite sweet treat.
PLANTING : Plant in a full sun to partly shaded location in free draining acid soil. For best results dig well composted manure through the soil prior to planting. If you don't have acid soil blueberries will grow in a container of ericaeous compost (for azaleas)
Frost hardy and fruits in humidity and heat.
CARE: Apply a good layer of mulch after planting, this helps to keep the shallow root system cool and moist. Keep the plant well watered during spring and summer. Prune mid winter. Treat unwanted garden pests with organic eco-oil.
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 2-3m H x 2m W
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
