This bushtucker bush is a cross between our usual midgem berry species, and a species with slender fine leaves. This gives Copper Tops a lighter feeling, more upright habit, and deeper copper-coloured new growth. Still the same juicy berries and pretty flowers!

Austromyrtus dulcis x tenuifolia ‘Copper Tops’ - midgem berry, midginberry, midyim berry

APPEARANCE: Small-leaved shrub with dense upright branches and copper-toned new growth. Flowers late spring and early summer with small white blossoms followed by sweet-edible whitish fruit in autumn.
USE IN: Ideal shrub for low hedging and borders in native, coastal gardens and rockeries. Attracts native wildlife
PLANTING: Plant in a full sun to partly shaded position in free-draining soil in the garden. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks, and in the autumn when berries are ripening. Tolerates dry conditions, humidity, coastal conditions. Protect from frost.
CARE: Prune after fruit has finished to encourage dense growth habit and a bumper crop of berries next season. Apply a native slow release fertiliser during spring.
