Echinopsis scoullar - easter lily cactus
This fascinating little cactus is a vibrant green barrel, deeply ribbed all around, ringed with clusters of tiny mini-me cacti at the base, like a mother hen protecting her chicks. Tiny cacti are thorny, bigger ones smooth.
In the wild it experiences arid winters and warm wet summers, which suggests that given protection from winter wet this one could thrive outdoors even in the tropics.
Like its siblings, happy plants will produce big satiny trumpet flowers, pure white, blooming after dark.
