Plant with pansies to shade the soil, keep down weeds, and give you bigger crops. Grow mint alongside to deter onion flies.

SOWING : Sow direct in autumn-winter - sowing in rows makes harvesting easier. Lightly cover seed to 5mm. Germinates in 10-14 days
PLANTING: Plant in rich fertilised soil in a sunny spot. Keep moist through germination and while growing. Thin out when seedlings emerge - you can eat the thinnings as you would chives.
CARE: Water and feed regularly through the growing period. Harvest when leaves dry out and fall over - around 24-32 weeks
