This sexy saxifrage is a popular and pretty little mat-forming groundcover for all kinds of locations around your garden - between pavers, in the rockery, brightening up a windowbox, nestling between shrubs in a shady border... Those blood-red flowers really pop!
Saxifraga x arendsii Red - mossy saxifrage, rockfoil
APPEARANCE: Small, low-growing, flowering plant which forms a mounded mat of small evergreen leaves. Small cup-shaped flowers appear in abundance in spring through to early autumn; they open in deepest red and gently fade to deep pink.USES: Rockeries, pots, alpine gardens, roof gardens, windowboxes, shade borders.
PLANTING: Perfoms well in shade especially in hot dry locations; will grow in full sun in cooler climates and with sufficient water. Mulch after planting to retain moisture and regulate soil temperatures as the young plant establishes. Extremely cold-hardy. Does not like hot humid tropical climates so not one for FNQ but fine for SEQ.
CARE: An application of a slow release fertiliser in spring will help keep the plant healthy.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 10 cm H x 30 cm W.
YOUR PLANTS: These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80 mm x 42 mm wide.
