Scilla hispanica, Hyacinthoides hispanica - Spanish bluebell
DESCRIPTION: Tall-growing flowering bulbs with strappy leaves and bell-like flowers on long straight stems. This mix includes pink, blue and white forms.
strong>USE IN: Plant as a flowering border below deciduous trees, or group in pots for bright spring flowering colour.
PLANTING: Scilla can grow in almost any soils, in full sun or full shade. They will tolerate dry hot summers and are frost hardy.
<CARE: Once planted, water the soil to set the bulb in place. Once flowering is finished remove the dead flowerheads before they set seed, and leave plants to die back. It's not the prettiest sight but don't be tempted to trim the yellowing foliage. The nutrients are being drawn back into the bulbs for next year. When the bulbs die back completely remove spent foliage and leave in place for next season.
CLIMATE: Frost-hardy to -15C, to semi-arid
Contains 5 bulbs.
