Give your garden gravitas with this stunning iconic native, featuring grassy fronds, tall 'kangaroo tail' flower spikes, and a rustic textured trunk when aged. Although these plants are slow growing in dry conditions, they are certainly worth the wait and will flower while quite young. A taste of true blue Aussie-ness.
Xanthorrhoea latifolia and sp.- grass tree
APPEARANCE :  Large tuft of long slender grass that over time develops a hollow thick trunk. Plants in flower send up a very tall green spike that opens into cream flowers, and dries to deep brown.USE FOR : Rockeries, landscape gardens and container planting. Waterwise and dry gardens; revegetation and legacy planting. Grass tree or blackboy is a uniquely Australian plant, ideal used as an architectural accent plant.
LOCATION : Plant in well drained soil in a full sun position in the garden. Grass trees will tolerate part shade. Avoid too much humidity as it can encourage the development of fungus in a sheltered spot.
CARE : Take care not to plant the crown of the plant below the soil level. Mulch and water only as required, drought tolerant once established. Regular watering will result in faster growth but your plant may not be as tolerant of harsh conditions.
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 2m H x 1.5 m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The average size of your plants will be 15 -25 cm including the pot height of 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
