Tough as - it's easy to see why it's one of your favourites! Will grow in almost any climate, soil, location or situation.

Useful for erosion control, weed suppressing, mass planting, ground cover, feature planting. Grows to about 1.2m around.

Almost zero maintenance, but some fertiliser will help it look its best. Better in dry soils and dry climates than hystrix.

Lomandra longifolia - spiny mat rush
APPEARANCE : Large fast-growing native lomandra with long green grassy foliage, broader than most other lomandra and growing in a fountain shape, and yellow spiny flower spikes during spring.
ORIGIN : Native to eastern Australia
USE FOR : Low maintenance filler plant. Erosion protection on banks and slopes. Massed planting and weed suppression. Native gardens for shelter, and revegetation projects. Traditionally used for basket making.
CLIMATE : Frost tolerant to -7C, drought tolerant, heat tolerant
PLANTING : Tolerates most soil types and planting conditions.
CARE : Foliage colour improves with fertiliser
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH : 1.2m H x 1m W.
