APPEARANCE : Compact evergreen tropical shrub with large rounded clusters of starry deep red flowers during the warmer months. Leaves on Malay ixoras are often distinctively wiggled along the edges.
USE FOR : Hedging, borders and specimen planting in frost-free gardens. Suited to container planting for those wanting to enjoy these plants in cooler climates.
PLANTING: Plant in well drained soil in a partly shaded position in the garden.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prune after flowering to promote dense growth habit and flowering, fertilise using a slow release fertiliser in spring. If leaves begin to yellow, feed with a liquid fertiliser like eco-seaweed for lush green foliage. Protect from frost.
