This resilient protea-banksia relative gives you bold dramatic shapes and rich long-lasting colour from winter into summer, all in a compact garden-friendly size. It loves free-draining soils and sunshine; it's cold hardy; and it even regrows after fire.
Leucadendron salignum 'Amethyst' PBR

APPEARANCE : Medium-sized evergreen shrub native to the Cape region of South Africa. Leathery firm leaves are blue-green, colouring in winter to deep maroon-purple at the end of each stem to form a longlasting cup-shaped 'flower', cream in the centre, with a central lime-yellow cone.
USE FOR :  Feature shrub; mixed with Australian natives; in a large container; for cut flowers and foliages.
PLANTING : Plant in full sun. Loves free-draining soil. Suitable for coastal gardens. Will grow back after fire.
CARE : Mulch and water regularly during the first 4-6 weeks or until the plant is established. Drought tolerant once established and should only need supplementary water in dry spells.
