Maidenhair fern - Adiantum
Adiantum raddianum - delta maidenhair fern
DESCRIPTION: Small rounded lacy foliage on glossy dark stems. Upright when young, becomes arched and cascading as the stems grow.
USE IN: Shaded, moist areas of the tropical garden, cracks in walls and paths, understory beneath trees, alongside water features, living green walls, indoors.
PLANTING: Plant carefully ensuring the crown of the fern is above the soil line. Ensure the growing medium is well drained to avoid wet feet. Remove old fronds to keep plants looking fresh and avoid disease. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks.
CARE: Protect from frost and draughts, and keep moist during dry periods. Ferns thrive in humid warm conditions. Give the foliage a quick spray with water during dry times and avoid over watering. Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and a liquid based fertiliser every 4 weeks during the warmer months, take care to dilute your solution to half the recommended dose to avoid burn. Re-pot container plants only if they are outgrowing their pots.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 15 - 50 cm H x 50 cm W.
PLEASE NOTE: These plants are tube-stock plants, with the benefit of being a young plant they will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 42 mm wide and 80 mm high.
