For a beaut, rugged, waterwise little groundcover you can't go past pigfaces (or more politely, ice plants). They don't mind being battered by sea spray or growing in dusty outback soil. They flower exotically in bright tropical colours. They need almost no care except perhaps an annual tidy up.

Mesembryanthemum ice plants tend to have slightly smaller flowers and more slender leaves than Carpobrotus ice plants. This yellow form has fatter leaves and bigger flowers than our other mesembryanthemum colours, as you can see in the image gallery.
