Imagine a metre-wide mound of golden yellow, alive with the buzzing of bees and colourful butterfly wings. Imagine a plant that loves heat and sun, copes with drought, will survive a light frost, and can be in flower for up to ten months of the year. That dream is a reality with the Mexican marigold. Crush the leaves and sniff the delicious marigold-mint fragrance!

Tagetes lemmonii - Lemmon's marigold, Mexican marigold, mountain marigold

DESCRIPTION: Evergreen shrub with aromatic foliage; and bee- and butterfly-attracting golden-yellow flowers from late summer to winter. Originates in Mexico and Arizona, so adapted to desert climates.
USE IN:  Low hedging, mass plantings, pots and containers, waterwise gardens, flower beds, kitchen gardens to repel nematodes and whitefly.
LOCATION: Plant in full sun in humus rich, moist and well draining soil. Drought tolerant once established, will come through a light overnight frost.
CARE: Mulch and water well during dry periods while plant is establishing. Clip over after flowering to maintain bushiness and new growth, trim to shape if necessary
