A grand foliage plant growing to 10 metres, perfect for large, tropical themed gardens and planting alongside palms. Grows as far south as Melbourne in frost free areas. For a more compact variety, try our Strelitzia reginae bird of paradise.
Strelitzia nicolai - giant bird of paradise
APPEARANCE: Super sized clumping plant with large fronds and deep purple flowers featuring white centres.USE IN:As a feature in tropical-style garden settings.
LOCATION: Plant in a full sun to partly shaded position in the garden.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Remove spent flowers and old foliage as required. Once established separate suckers as needed and plant elsewhere in the garden.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: Up to 10 m H x 4.5 m W.
