Compact, clumping, fine-leaved tropical palm with golden cane stems and gold-green leaves. Very ornamental, easy care indoors and out, fast-growing, great for quick screening.

Dypsis lutescens - golden cane palm, areca palm

APPEARANCE : Medium growing clumping palm from Madagascar with golden stems and light green fronds which take on shades of gold.
USE FOR : Tropical garden settings and poolside for screening and feature planting. Suited to containers and indoor gardens in cooler climates.
PLANTING: Plant in a shaded or full sun position in the garden in well drained soil. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks.
CARE: Protect from frost and keep moist during dry periods. Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and liquid fertiliser regularly during the warmer months. Re-pot every 2 - 3 years to keep soil fresh and full of nutrients. 
HEIGHT & WIDTH:  6-8m H (often smaller in garden situations) x 2-2.5m W.
