This old-fashioned cottage garden favourite is given a modern look with a pure white colour theme. You'll enjoy this dainty plant year after year in your garden borders and in pots on the patio. Happiest in dappled shade and rich moist soil.

Songbird or Early BIrd aquilegias? The biggest difference is they are bred and registered by different companies. Both have large flowers that point upwards, and low compact foliage. Songbirds have an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Early Birds have different colour pairings.

Aquilegia vulgaris 'Early Bird White' - granny's bonnet, columbine

APPEARANCE : Herbaceous perennial with white bell-like flowers, on long slender stems above green ferny foliage.
USE FOR : Cottage gardens, shady borders, potted colour
CLIMATE : Frost-hardy
PLANTING : Winter-Spring. Plant in free draining soil in a part-sunny to shaded location protected from strong winds. The sunnier the spot the more water it will need.
CARE : Water regularly until established and continue to provide water especially during dry spells. Mulch plants to keep the shallow roots cool in summer. Remove spent flowers and apply liquid fertiliser regularly for prolific flowering and plant health.
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH : 50cm H x 30cm W.
