Description

Calathea lancifolia - rattlesnake calathea

APPEARANCE : Long slender deep green leaves, lance-shaped, wiggly along the edge, with attractive symmetrical spot patterning and purple undersides. Produces little sand-coloured flowers like a rattlesnake tail at the foot of the stems when mature and happy.
USE FOR : Ideal container plant for a shaded patio, accent planting in frost-free gardens, or indoors. Suited to underplanting in tropical style gardens.
PLANTING: Plant in a shady spot with indirect sunlight. Prefers moisture-retaining soil or a good quality potting mix.
CARE: Water regularly during the first 12 weeks and regularly once established. Mist regularly if air humidity is low. Apply a slow release fertiliser yearly and liquid feed every three months for vibrant healthy foliage. Pruning isn't required, simply remove the old leaves for a quick tidy up.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 60-75cm H x 60cm W.
