This petite native shrub will flower for almost half the year, from summer right through into winter. Related to boronias, croweas are excellent garden plants, frost hardy and frequently flowering. They prefer a cool, moist, slightly shady position and regular water to flower at their best, so find some dappled shade and enjoy these starry natives.

Crowea exalata 'White Star' - waxflower
APPEARANCE : Native flowering shrub from NSW VIC and southern QLD, with small slender evergreen leaves and ivory white star-shaped flowers from late summer to early winter, and intermittently the rest of the year outside very hot or cold periods. Croweas have five petals and boronias have four petals.
USE FOR :  Native and cottage gardens, winter colour. Can be grown in pots and containers, and the stems cut to enjoy indoors in a vase.
PLANTING:  Plant in dappled shade and free-draining light sandy acid soil for best results. Tolerates a light frost.
CARE:  Mulch plants generously to regulate soil temperatures and keep roots cool and moist as the young plant establishes. Water regularly - don't let plants dry out or become waterlogged. A prune once flowering has finished, or at the end of winter, will help give the plant shape and encourage new growth. Follow with an application of a slow release fertiliser for natives, and fresh mulch.
HEIGHT & WIDTH:  50 - 80 cm H x 1m W.
YOUR PLANTS: These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot height is 80 mm x 42 mm wide. You can see an example in the image gallery
