This broom is a brightly coloured hybrid, amping up the vibrancy of the flowers and creating a bushier, more compact shrub. It's a lovely garden plant in a sunny spot, that pollinators will love.

For bushland/NP-adjacent gardeners : One of Crimson King's parents can be weedy; the other parent is keeping their hybrid offspring in check, and we have had no reports of Crimson King being problematic. However, if you live alongside bushland and you want to be super-safe, you might want to choose our yellow broom (a different species) or one of the alternative plants below.

Cytisus x dallimorei 'Crimson King'– broom

APPEARANCE : Evergreen slightly 'leggy' shrub with green foliage and masses of pink pea flowers in spring.
USE FOR : Containers, beds, borders for brilliant display of colour.
PLANTING : This shrub prefers full sun; will tolerate some shade but flowering may be reduced. Plant in free draining soil of any kind. Happy in dry outback air. Most cytisus are frost-hardy. Note: Named hybrid cultivars are usually much less fertile than species forms of plants; however one of the parents of Crimson King is recognised as a weed, so please bear this in mind if you garden in rural areas or near bushland. If in doubt remove seedpods before they ripen.
CARE: Mulch and water well, trim back after flowering to promote compact growth and flowering. Feed with a controlled release fertiliser three times a year, and boost feeding with seaweed solution if leaves become yellow on very poor soils.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 1.5 - 2 m H x 1 - 1.5 m W.
YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tube-stock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
