Flowers are small, abundant, usually clear red to a warm dusty rose, but colour may vary slightly. You can see the colour range in the image gallery.

Salvia microphylla - baby sage, blackcurrant sage

APPEARANCE : Herbaceous summer-flowering shrubby perennial; tiny grey-green leaves with a faint scent of blackcurrant; and red tubular flowers until first frosts. Attracts bird life, butterflies and bees to your garden.
USE FOR : Cottage style gardens, mixed beds and borders, wildlife gardens, kitchen gardens.
PLANTING : Plant in a full sun to partly shaded position in the garden, in rich well drained soil. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Water weekly in dry climates. Cold hardy to -5C or more.
CARE : Clip over after flowering, to encourage fresh growth and a perhaps a repeat flowering. Cut it hard back in early spring. Fertilise in spring using a slow release fertiliser, give an extra boost during the summer heat using eco-seaweed. May come through a light frost.
