Delphinium grandiflorum
DESCRIPTION: Tall straight flower spikes in seven shades of blue, purple and almost-white. Feathery fine foliage. Ideal for cutting for the home, as well as for cottage garden borders. Perennial Pacific Giants is bred for larger flowers and better vigour.
PLANTING: Sow seeds in autumn-winter into seed trays/pots, cover with soil and keep moist. Thin plants one they develop 2-4 leaves and are easily handled. Plant in free draining soil in a sunny location in late Spring for best flowering. Preparing garden beds with well composted manure will give the best results.
CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established and continue to provide water especially during dry spells. Mulch plants to keep the shallow roots cool in summer. Likes a generally cool climate with plenty of rainfall or water. For an extra long flowering season, remove spent blooms and feed with liquid fertiliser.
