The 'mother' of this zingy native tea tree is the very popular Cardwell, though you might not know it, as it has inherited its father's vibrant purple-red flower colour. Lovely little shrub for the native border or feature planting in a pot.

Leptospermum rotundifolium x spectabile x polygalifolium 'Love Affair'

APPEARANCE : Native bushy short mounding shrub, with small leaves and heaps of white buds which open to dark reddish-pink five-petalled spring flowers. Hybrid of L 'Cardwell' and L 'Rhiannon' bred by Bywong Nursery.
USES:  Hedging, native and wildlife gardens, mixed beds, containers. Ideal for screening.
PLANTING : Plant in full sun or part shade. Happy in a range of soil types and tolerates damp soils. Tolerates drought and coastal conditions once established. Frost hardy on well-drained soils.
CARE : Mulch and water regularly during the first 4-6 weeks or until the plant is established. Water in dry spells. Will cope with being pruned quite hard if you need to, but a light annual prune after flowering is better to maintain a dense habit and flowers.

YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
