Neat compact hedging tea tree, ideal for cool and coastal gardens and sandy soils, though will adapt happily to most climates and conditions.
Lovely large spring flowers in pale pink-lilac which beneficial pollinators will appreciate. Easy to identify from other tea trees from the round leaves.
Leptospermum rotundifolium 'Lavender Queen'
APPEARANCE : Compact tea tree with fine green foliage, very distinctively round (hence rotund-i-folium, meaning round-leaf) on red stems; and large open lilac-pink flowers during winter and spring.
USE IN: Native style gardens for colour, feature planting and for light screening.
PLANTING : Sunny to part shade in free draining soil, sandy for preference. Suitable for most parts of Australia though will flower better in cooler southern states. Tolerates light frost, salt spray.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks, prune as required to promote new growth and fertilise using a slow release native fertiliser yearly. Prune after flowering to promote dense growth habit.
