Description

Papaver nudicaule 'Iceland Mixed' - Iceland poppy

DESCRIPTION : Colourful cold-tolerant annual or perennial 40-60cm high, with small soft leaves and cup-shaped single flowers in shades of orange, pink, yellow and salmon. Plant as a border or mass plant for a showy display.
SOWING : Sow in summer-autumn into pots, or direct into ground. Lightly cover seed to 5mm. Germinates in 10-14 days
PLANTING : Transplant when large enough to handle, trying not to disturb the roots too much. Plant in free draining soil in a sunny location for a long flowering season. Flowers around 24 weeks after planting.
CARE : Water seedlings regularly until established and during dry spells. Apply a liquid fertiliser like eco-seaweed when flower buds appear and remove any spent flowers to encourage heavier flowering.
