Gerbera - African daisy
Gerbera jamesonii

DESCRIPTION: Cheery sun-loving daisy in a mix of vibrant colours. Large blooms, big leaves. Versatile for potted colour, mixed beds, and cut flower gardens. Plants can be slow to mature but well worth the wait.
PLANTING: Spring to early Summer. Sow seeds into seed raising mix, cover with a thin layer of soil and keep moist. At approx 6 weeks, plant in free draining soil in a full sun location. Take care to ensure the crown is above the level of the soil. Avoid planting in clay-boggy soil or very humid locations.
CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established and continue to provide water during dry spells (morning is best allowing the leaves to dry through the day, avoiding any fungal issues). Remove spent flowers and apply liquid fertiliser regularly for prolific flowering and plant health.
