We've been longing to get Acacia cognata into the plant range for a while, and so we went one better and got this lovely large maroon-tinted version for extra garden appeal! Slender long grassy leaves, gentle cascading waterfall form, and that blush of burgundy. Despite its good looks this native is rugged and will have a go almost anywhere.

Acacia cognata 'Burgundy Cascade' - river wattle, bower wattle

APPEARANCE :  Fast-growing medium-sized shrub with slender cascading leaves, mid-green tinted in burgundy-red. Small creamy fluffy wattle flowers but you're growing this one for the foliage.
USE FOR : Informal hedging, feature shrub, native gardens, screening, windbreaks.
PLANTING : Plant in any well-drained soil in full sun. Frost, drought and coastal tolerant, even growing in salty soils.
CARE:  Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks, and protect from frost while young. Responds well to pruning if you need to - use the branches for decor indoors; apply a slow release native fertiliser afterwards to promote healthy growth.
HEIGHT & WIDTH:  3 m H x 2 m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
