Masses of small dusky musk pink flowers cover this small shrub in winter and spring. Only 1m tall, good for pots, containers, and bonsai. A 'Kurume type' azalea, a hardy all-rounder, Kirin is a favourite azalea for reliability and all round performance; and can make excellent bonsai plants.

Azalea kurume 'Kirin'

APPEARANCE : Small to medium evergreen shrub, beautiful and dainty, with lots of small, soft, single pink flowers in late spring.
USE FOR : Charming feature plant. Ideal height for stepover hedges. Suitable for pots, bonsai and topiary.
CLIMATE : Will tolerate light frost once established.
PLANTING : Azaleas love dappled, morning and/or afternoon sun. Full sun is ok but not too exposed, hot and dry.
Plant in a moist free draining soil rich in organic matter.
CARE : Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Continue to water on a regular basis for the first twelve months to ensure the plant becomes fully established. Azaleas do not like drying out. Prune after spring flowering to promote dense growth habit and flowering next season, fertilise using a slow release fertiliser such as Osmocote which is specially formulated for azaleas
