Banksia spinulosa x ericifolia 'Bird Song'
APPEARANCE : Compact hybrid of two native species banksia. Cylindrical dark orange-red flowers in autumn and winter, and bushy dense branches of small slender leaves.USES: Coastal gardens, wildlife gardens - birds adore these plants and are kept busy for ages. Informal low hedges and screens.
PLANTING: Plant in well-drained light soil in a sunny position for best flowering season. Is able to tolerate light frost and salt spray.
CARE: Prune as required after flowering to maintain dense growth. Feed with a slow release native fertiliser during spring - Banksia are phosphorus-sensitive so the P ratio of the fertiliser needs to be under 3%. Leaves may yellow in alkaline soils, but plants are happy grown in pots of native-mix soil.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 1-2m H x 1-2m W. Plants are frequently smaller in cool climates and exposed sites.
YOUR PLANTS: These plants are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide
