Like a mini-me hairpin banksia, this compact all-rounder will give you all the bird-luring nectar of the full size version in a plant small enough to grow in a patio pot. The cylinder flowers bloom in shades of golden honey to red throughout the cooler months

Banksia spinulosa 'Dwarf Red'

APPEARANCE : Australian native dwarf shrub with a dense compact habit. Cylindrical golden-red flowers, appear in autumn and winter, proud of the foliage.
USE FOR : Coastal gardens, wildlife gardens, rockeries, mass groundcover plantings, and in pots and containers.
PLANTING : Plant in a light very-well-drained soil in a sunny position for best flowering. Suits acid to mildly alkaline soils and is able to tolerate frost and some drought. Low water needs once established - doesn't like wet feet or humidity.
CARE : Prune as required after flowering to maintain dense growth. Feed with a slow release native fertiliser during spring - Banksia are phosphorus-sensitive so the P ratio of the fertiliser needs to be under 3%. Leaves may yellow in very alkaline soils, but plants are happy grown in pots if this is the case in your garden.
HEIGHT & WIDTH :  1m H x 1m W
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide. You can see an example in the image gallery
