Familiar native wildflower with golden globe flowers on slender stems. Happiest inland in dry air, well-drained soil and full sun; although as they appear almost everywhere in Australia and often on heavy or rocky soil, they're worth a whirl in your back yard.

We are testing this resilience of this plant to long-distance shipping, so for now it's QLD only, sorry. If they do well, we will expand shipping to other states.

Pycnosorus globosus, Craspedia globosa - billy buttons

APPEARANCE : Familiar native Australian wildflower with round deep yellow flowerheads on slender grey-silver stems. Foliage is slender, low-growing, grey-green.
ORIGIN : Native to much of the inland east and south, from SE QLD to southern NSW, across VIC and SA
USE FOR :  Rockeries, borders, coastal and native gardens. Try it in pots too. Excellent dried flower
CLIMATE : Tolerates dry periods and frost once established. The only environment it doesn't seem to like is high humidity.
PLANTING : Plant in well-drained soil, especially sand or clay, in full sun in the garden. Wild habitats often flood in winter so try it on heavier soils too.
CARE : Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Chop off old stems after flowering to encourage dense growth; and fertilise with a slow release native fertiliser in spring.
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH :50 cm H or more x 30-50 cm W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
