This happy bright native gives you a fragrant burst of colour in spring and autumn, when those bright golden flowerspikes emerge. It looks its best planted en masse, as you'd come across it in the wild, carpeting the ground.
It's happy in a wide range of habitats but especially damp woodlands; it's also prized bushtucker for its sweet nutritious corms - though we haven't tried it yet ourselves...

Bulbine bulbosa - native leek, golden lily
APPEARANCE : Grassy plant growing from edible corms; bright yellow fragrant flowers on long spikes held clear of the foliage appear usually in autumn (QLD NSW), or spring (VIC SA). Variable in height depending on local conditionsORIGIN : Native to a wide spread of Australia from QLD to TAS
USE FOR : Wildflower and native gardens, autumn colour, mass planting, container colour, rockeries, bushtucker
CLIMATE : Frost tolerant
PLANTING : Prefers a moist, even swampy, soil, sandy or loamy; and flowers best in full sun. Grows in a range of soils and climates in the wild so should be adaptable in garden cultivation. Water during dry spells until plant is established. Do not plant near grazing animals.
CARE : Water during prolonged dry spells.
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH : 30-70 cm H x 30 cm W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
