Callistemon viminalis, Melaleuca viminalis - weeping bottlebrush

APPEARANCE : A hardy, multi-stemmed, semi-weeping tree which develops a more weeping habit in full flower, from the abundance of blossoms. Bright red buds develop in spring and will open to classic bottlebrush flowers throughout spring, and often again in autumn.
ORIGIN : Native from Cape York to mid NSW, and in WA
USE FOR : Handy smaller tree for gardens where height or space is restricted. Happy in areas of seasonal flooding. Helps to combat soil erosion. Great attraction for native birds and pollinators looking for a nectar feed.
CLIMATE : Tolerant of occasional light overnight frost once full-grown.
PLANTING : Full sun to part shade. Suits most soil types even heavy or seasonally wet ones. Usually found by rivers and creeks, grows best with regular water. Doesn't like salt spray, but ok with air pollution.
CARE : Water as required for approx 12 weeks until established. Plant in a well mulched garden (chunky mulch is recommended). If required use slow release native fertiliser after flowering. If desired prune to shape after flowering (this depends on your requirements, more frequent pruning will provide a tidier shape but reduce the weeping habit).
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 5-10m H x 3m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
