Cordyline fruticosa Rubra
APPEARANCE : Allover reddish colour somewhere between warm pink and rusty brown. Large broad leaves and a slender profile.USE FOR : Tropical garden, as a contrasting plant for a colourful garden, and massed together for a splash of colour.
CLIMATE : Protect from frost.
PLANTING: Plant in shade or part shade in the garden in free draining soil. Mulch when planting and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Cordylines are hardy and will tolerate periods of sun although they prefer filtered light. Give them plenty of water in the first 8-12 weeks and avoid exposing them to hot sunlight until they establish.
CARE: Remove any dead foliage and cut back in spring if plants become leggy. Water regularly during dry periods. Apply liquid fertiliser following extended dry periods and every 3 months for lush foliage. Cutting foliage off is fine as the plant will regrow from the stem.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 1-2m H x 0.5-1m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
