Cruisy cottage garden favourite, covered with bee-friendly purple flowers in summer and autumn.

No-dramas prunella will grow in most moist soils, even wet ones, and roots along its stems to form a mat of flowers. If it gets a bit enthusiastic just pull up the stray stems, or mow over it on a high setting.

Its less-ornamental relatives have been grown by wise women in the villages of the world for centuries, to cure everything from boils to joint pain to diphtheria.

Prunella vulgaris subsp. grandiflora 'Purple Loveliness' - selfheal

APPEARANCE : Low-growing herbaceous or semi-evergreen perennial, mat forming and rooting along the stems. Purple flowers held clear of the leaves from summer to early autumn. Related to mint.
USE FOR : Cottage gardens, mixed borders, mass groundcover, under trees, in kitchen gardens to attract pollinators.

YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
