Prayer plants or peacock plants, a rose-painted calathea by any other name is a beautiful indoor decoration - and Julia is one of the prettiest. Dark green leaves with a broad silvery band around the edge, bright pink central stripe, deep maroon underside - very dramatic.

We love Julia for her striking leaf colour, and as a gift for a friend with the same name

Calathea sanderiana 'Julia' - rose-painted calathea, peacock plant

APPEARANCE : Tropical foliage plant with large broad highly-patterned leaves in dark and bright green with white and pink highlights and pink-red central ribs. Leaves unfurl from a central growing point; mature leaves fold up at night.
USES: Indoor plant, tropical accent planting.
PLANTING: Plant in a shady spot with indirect sunlight. Prefers moisture-retaining soil or a good quality potting mix. Needs temperatures over 15C and enjoys humidity.
CARE: Water regularly during the first 12 weeks and regularly once established. Mist regularly if air humidity is low, and wipe the leaves gently with a damp cloth to free them of dust. Apply a nitrogen rich slow release fertiliser every three months for vibrant healthy foliage.
HEIGHT & WIDTH:  50 - 60cm H.
YOUR PLANTS: These are tubestock plants, young healthy plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80 mm x 42 mm wide. May be supplied as 'plugs', slightly smaller than our usual tubestock but with a healthy root system ready for planting or potting on. These are shipped inside pots for protection in transit.
