Hemigraphis - purple waffle
This fun foliage plant for indoors, and for shadier spots outdoors, adds a pop of rich colour. Use as annual bedding in cool climates; or year-round planting in tropical gardens and homes. Likes regular watering, humidity, and a very free draining soil, otherwise easy to grow. Try it in a bathroom terrarium!

Hemigraphis exotica purple waffle
APPEARANCE : Low growing tropical plant admired for its coloured foliage, green on top, metallic purple underneath, and the slightly puckered leaves, hence its common name. Occasional tiny white flowers.
USES: Indoors in pots and terrariums, outside for annual bedding, hanging baskets, or in tropical gardens as underplanting.
PLANTING: Plant in well drained soil in filtered sun to shade. Full sun all day may reduce leaf colour. Likes humidity and temperatures over 10C.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prune as required to maintain form and fertilise with a slow release fertiliser in spring. Provide plenty of water during the summer heat.
