Camellia japonica 'C M Hovey'
APPEARANCE : Evergreen shrub with glossy green leaves and formal double, bright rose-red-pink flowers about the size of a cricket ball across. Japonica varieties flower later in the season and are more cool-climate tolerant.
USES : Suited to hedging, feature planting, and container planting. Upright and dense habit so makes a good ornamental hedge.
PLANTING : Sunny or partly shaded position with morning or afternoon sun. Shelter from strong winds and exposed sites. Plant in well drained soil prepared with mulch. Water regularly during the first 12 weeks or until the plant is established. Tolerates frost once established.
CARE : Mulch and water well, prune after flowering and fertilise using camellia specific feed.
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 2.5 - 4 m H x 1.5 - 2.5 m W
